Rita is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Human Kinetics, University of Lisbon. She teaches Motor Development and her research uses direct perception mostly applied to child safety issues. She studies the behavior of infants and children in different ‘risk environments’, such as water environments or high places. She has been interested in understanding not only how different children perceive affordances in risk settings, but also how adults perceive those affordances for children.
