Christopher is Professor of Psychology at the University of Birmingham. He has published over 150 articles and received grant funding from research councils, charities and industry. He has served as Associate Editor of Biological Psychology for over 10 years. He is known for his approach to science that crosses traditional disciplinary boundaries and has conducted programmatic research concerning cardioception, stress and immunity and hypertensive hypoalgesia. His psychophysiological research on learning and performance spans over 30 years, and these days is focused on identifying the mechanisms that underpin optimal performance.
