basesnews

Further to the Call to Action on 16 April 2020 for expressions of interest for the BASES Chair-Elect, I am pleased to announce that three strong colleagues have agreed to stand.

In alphabetical order, the applicants are:

Candidate 1 Associate Professor Adam Hawkey FBASES

Candidate 2 Professor Zoe Knowles FBASES

Candidate 3 Professor Lars McNaughton FBASES

The applications for all three candidates are available to view within the member-only website.

The individual will take up post in November 2020 and will normally hold office for a four-year period (one year as Chair-Elect under the outgoing Chair, then three years as Chair). The Chair-Elect will be appointed as a Director of the Association, along with other members of the Board. The main responsibilities are to:

  • Provide direction, support and coordination to the Board
  • Support effective strategy implementation
  • Work closely with the BASES Executive Director.

As per clause 2.2 of the Articles of Association, Professional membership is the minimum grade of membership to become a voting member of the Association. Details of the voting process have been issued to BASES Professional Members. Voting will close at midnight on Friday 5 June 2020.

Good Luck to all candidates over the next few weeks of voting.

Thanks

The BASES Team
