BASES Laboratory Accreditations

1st October 2020

Due to the current COVID-19 government and local restrictions, it has been decided to extend current BASES Laboratory Accreditations by six months. A further review of this will take place in early 2021.

Commenting on this decision, Prof Glyn Howatson FBASES, Chair of the Laboratory Accreditation Group said, “I have considered if accreditation and re-accreditation visits are possible and it is not reasonably practicable to conduct such activity in the current climate. However, it should not deter laboratories from preparing applications or indeed continuing to maintain good laboratory standards, albeit within the constraints of local and governmental guidelines. This temporary measure will mean that laboratories will not lose their current accreditation until such a time that a safe visit can be arranged."
