BASES signs Partnership Agreement with BASIS, the British Association for Sustainable Sport
25th April 2022
Following some collaboration for a recent BASES webinar on sustainability and climate change, BASES and BASIS are proud to sign a new partnership agreement which will promote co-operation between the two organisations in implementing sustainable development principles and environmental management practices in the sport, exercise, recreation, physical activity and science sectors.
BASIS is the sustainability hub for the UK sports sector, a not-for-profit committed to delivering a positive impact for sport at every level and to harnessing the power of sport to build a sustainable future.
The agreement was signed by Dr Russell Seymour, BASIS CEO, and Ian Wilson, BASES Executive Director.
Commenting on the agreement, Dr Seymour said, "BASIS is pleased to work with organisations across the sport, recreation and physical activity sector, and we are especially excited to partner with BASES. Education, knowledge and co-operation are critical to help our sector respond to the ecological and climate crisis and develop a more sustainable approach to sport and exercise. The expertise of our respective organisations complement each other perfectly and I look forward to a productive collaboration.”
Dr Andy Smith MBE FBASES, Chair of the BASES Climate Change Action Team (CCAT) said, “‘As BASES works through its CCAT workstreams to help address the climate change emergency and sustainability issues, it is vital that we partner with experts in the field. Our new partnership with the British Association for Sustainable Sport (BASIS) is a major step forward and one that will lead to real change and tangible action.”
