BASES Undergraduate Endorsement Scheme (BUES) Review Panel
25th February 2021
The BASES Undergraduate Endorsement Scheme (BUES) awards endorsement to sport and exercise science degree courses that provide undergraduates with the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills essential to enter into the profession. Following three years as Chair of the BUES Review Panel, Dr Kevin Robertson has recently announced that he is looking to retire this Easter, and will step down from the BUES Review Panel.
In 2017/18, Kevin oversaw the creation of a BUES Review Task Force to consider the efficacy of the BUES scheme in line with the changing nature of sport and exercise science provision in Higher Education. The subsequent revisions to the scheme are designed to develop a more robust set of requirements for degree programmes and to widen participation to institutions that may not have met the previous percentage-based criteria, but are able to evidence the delivery of a high-quality student learning experience and provide the foundation of knowledge and skills required to enter into the sport and exercise science profession.
Over the 2015-20 period, the number of BASES Undergraduate Endorsement Scheme courses increased from 37 to 60, at 43 UK Higher Education Institutions.
As per the terms of reference of the group, the membership of the Panel appoint the Chair. Dr Lisa Board FBASES was duly appointed by her peers and will work with Kevin over the coming weeks for a smooth handover of the Chair role. Kevin’s vacancy for the Review Panel will be openly advertised in due course, allowing a new member of the Association the opportunity to support the endorsement of sport and exercise science degree courses.
BASES would like to thank Kevin for his hard work and support of BUES over his tenure.
