Changes to BASES Special Interest Group guidelines

22nd June 2019

BASES Special Interest Groups (SIGs) provide an active forum for networking, discussion and knowledge sharing for BASES members who share an interest in a subject area.

A number of changes have been made to the rules governing the operation of BASES SIGs to provide transparency and clarity for BASES members. All active BASES SIGs must:

  • have a Chair and a Steering Group, which meets at least once per year
  • have a Mission Statement outlining the group's aims and objectives
  • provide an annual summary report to BASES for sharing with BASES members
  • maintain and update a web page in the Members' Area of the BASES website, providing information and resources for BASES members.

Each Special Interest Group has a mailing list, which members can opt in to via their online member profile (in the Members' Area) to receive updates and information on how to get more involved.

The following BASES SIGs are active and open for members to join:

  • Biomechanics Interest Group (BIG)
  • Clinical Exercise Physiology
  • Exercise for Health Practitioners
  • Clean Sport
  • Education and Learning
  • Paediatric Exercise Science
  • Molecular Exercise Physiology

The full guidelines for BASES Special Interest Groups can be found here. More information can be found on the BASES Special Interest Groups (SIGs) web page.
