Recruiting for members of the BASES Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Group
7th November 2024
Are you passionate about increasing equity, diversity and inclusion in the sport and exercise sciences? Can you help to provide BASES members and the public with increased knowledge, confidence and skills around equity, diversity and inclusion? If so, we would love to hear from you!
We are currently recruiting for three professional members (from both academics and applied practitioners) and one undergraduate student member to join the BASES Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Group (EDI AG). Appointments will be for three years in the first instance, with an expectation to attend monthly online meetings (9 – 10 am GMT). You will be expected to support a number of the EDI AG priority projects between the meetings, when needed, such as reviewing and updating EDI resources, attending and advising enquiries regarding the EDI-related matters, or helping to identify existing gaps and how to address them. The Advisory Group’s terms of reference can be found here (Appx AG5, pg 40-41).
The appointment of the above roles will be via a formal, open and transparent recruitment process, with the aim of attracting the widest range of the most suitable talent. At BASES, we are committed to Fairness, Professionalism, Honesty, Responsibility and Excellence. We strive to improve our ways of working to be more inclusive and diverse, to accelerate our impact on society and live up to our Values. We acknowledge that we lack representation from various underrepresented groups and therefore strongly encourage applications that will amplify the voices of people with a disability, those from culturally and ethnically diverse backgrounds, women or gender diverse people in STEMM and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Please notify the Chief Executive Officer (iwilson@bases.org.uk) if you require reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process.
If you would like to discuss these roles in more detail, before making an application, please email Dr Kotryna Fraser, Chair, BASES EDI AG (kotryna.fraser@sydney.edu.au).
To apply for these current vacancies, please submit a maximum of two pages of A4, outlining:
- why you are interested in this role
- what skills and experience you would bring to the EDI Advisory Group that are currently missing
- which of the EDI AG initiatives, to date, speak to you most and why, and
- any ideas you have about moving forward the work and priorities of the EDI Advisory Group and BASES.
Please email this to iwilson@bases.org.uk by 10 am (GMT) on Monday 2 December 2024. Please mark this email as confidential and within the subject header, please add “BASES EDI Advisory Group expression of interest”.
