English Premier League
The English Premier League (EPL) is a strategic partner of BASES. Both BASES and the EPL are committed to raising standards in the application of sport and exercise science and promoting evidence-based practice in the high performance sport sector in the UK.
What is the EPL?
The EPL is responsible for youth development within the top-tier of football clubs in the English professional football system. The EPL oversees the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) - a long-term strategy with the aim of developing more and better home-grown players. A key pillar of the EPPP is ensuring that all practitioners providing support to football players at Premier League academies are safe and fit to practice, in order to provide the highest level of support services to the next generation of professional footballers.
Raising standards
As part of its commitment to raising standards and promoting excellence in applied sports science, the EPL now requires all of its sport and exercise science practitioners providing scientific support to players at Premier League club academies to be or become BASES Accredited.
